Virtual tour of the children's museum of houston
When deciding what to make my student project about, I researched some options and decided to go with the Children’s Museum of Houston. I have been there previously with little nephews and cousins before, but recently I took my 4yr old and decided to go back. I absolutely love what this museum offers for children. It gives them an escape to what most of them are used to these days, eyes glued on TV’s, electronic devices, and game consoles. Don’t get me wrong, sure technology can play a great role in learning but when it gets too obsessive, it’s time to change it up the routine. There are all kinds of activities for them that requires both hands on and creative thinking. From toddlers to older ages their mission is as the Museum stated, “To spark a passion for lifelong learning in all children.” Take a look at my virtual tour through what our trip was like. Perhaps one day if you get the chance to take little one’s, you can give them a great and fun experience that hopefully ignites a spark of imagination to last a lifetime.

Discussion (D3: Social media)
1.) Describe examples of ways that social media tools can be used effectively in e-learning and/or classroom training settings.
Some examples of ways that social media tools could be used effectively in e-learning is for one, how easy it can be accessed from any electronic device that may have internet connection. It is convenient for everyone wherever they may be. Either in the comfort of their own home to at work during a lunch break, instead of the usual meeting where everyone has to find an agreeable time to gather. Another example would be how this method of learning may be easier to take in the content for some people than others. When everyone is connecting online, you have to focus your attention and include yourself during the learning process. Alerts and notifications on your phone and computer are another way social media tools are effective, you are being updated on any comments or movement that has happened while you are away. You get reminders to complete certain tasks or to continue the learning process where you left off. Social media platforms will be integrated with learning management systems just as they mentioned in the social learning article (Allen & Naughton, 2015). This way of e-learning will only grow more common and will improve learning methods that can hopefully generate great progress in this generations’ education system.

web 2.0 tool
Popplet
Homepage: http://popplet.com/
Tool Categories: Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, & Presentation.
Popplet is a very helpful web 2.0 tool that you can use when you need to plan out and organize your plans, ideas and thoughts. It is much like brain storming but made very easy to manage online. It allows you to create popplets containing your content that you desire, with text, images, videos, and even drawings. It also allows you to use content directly from Flickr, YouTube and Google maps. After you are finished with your Popplet, it can be exported and be used in presentations, or simply saved into your gallery for personal and future reference. Building a concept map can make a big difference in how your final product is delivered. By allowing other people to edit, add and contribute to it can enhance productivity and really bring the group together. Advanced computer skills are not necessary to use Popplet, it’s simple enough for children to use. One of the advantages that Popplet can offer is the availability through Apple devices that can download their app from the App Store. A disadvantage you might come across is the limited number of 5 popplets that you can create with your free basic account. You can purchase from two other plans that offer unlimited popplets with all features for $3 a month or $30 for a year.
